Western Michigan University and Guizhou University of Economics and Finance have raised serious concerns regarding Short-form videos and YouTube Shorts that promote and develop addictive behaviors in young people. Because such YT short videos create thrills and sensations but leave a harmful impact. On the other hand, studies show that majority of the college Student from China and the USA, often watch such videos for information and entertainment purposes, and then they shape their social appearance and real identities. As a result, parents also show their concern because of the impact of such videos on their children's lives. Because no option is given to disable YT shorts.
Short videos watched by kids make them swift simulators and fast changes that can make it tough for them to focus on educational tasks such as reading and exam preparation. Recent studies have shown that short videos affect the reward system of our brain than the dopamine release. A Stanford University psychiatrist Doctor Anne explains that short videos are catchy and release the dopamine surges like other addictive behaviors. The easy and quick consuming nature of such short videos can lead to lofty dopamine levels. So, the cognitive process of short video viewers becomes quite slow and decreases their attention level.
